COOKING WITH CARBON STEEL

Durable, versatile, and non-toxic, our carbon steel pans are built to last a lifetime, and carry stories of meals prepared, shared moments, and culinary journeys. They evolve with time, reflecting the care, passion, and experiences of those who use it, giving them a life of their own.

By starting its journey with a good seasoning and regular maintenance, your pan will be naturally non-stick. It creates layers of polymerized oil, forming a protective and non-stick surface, each layer adding character and resilience to the pan.

SEASONING YOUR CARBON STEEL PAN

Preheat your oven to 220C. Prepare your pan by washing with warm soapy water and then drying thoroughly. Place it in the oven for a couple minutes to open its pores. Next, apply a very thin film of high smoke point veggie oil (my preferred is grapeseed) over the entirety of the pan including the handle. Place the piece in the preheated oven for 1 hour then turn off the heat and let the oven and pan naturally cool down. Re-oil and repeat for 1-2 more cycles or until the pan gets a glossy black finish.

CARING FOR CARBON STEEL

Wash your pan in warm water using using a non-abrasive scrubber (for stubborn bits, bring some water to a simmer in your pan for a few minutes then lightly scrub). Throughly dry and apply a low heat via stovetop, applying a small amount of oil to the pan once it is warm.

Avoid: Dishwashers, soaking in water, harsh abrasives, and do not quench a hot pan in cold water.
